Hi welcome to my shop!
I'm currently Head of Humanities, but I've also been head of department at a number of other schools, not to mention head of year. So I have a lot of high quality resources to share.
I take real pride in trying to ensure my resources are well presented, clear, easy to use and of course challenging and engaging for the students. They have taken me a lot of time to make, but hopefully they will save you a lot of time.
If you have any feedback then please review me!

This is a powerpoint presentation that can be used to stimulate debate and allow the students to explore major world issues and topics.
There are 51 different topics here and these cover popular debating topics (animal rights, immigrants, democracy) and more obscure topics (about junk food and curfews!)
Really useful starter, plenary, tutor time activity, drama activity or in a debating club.

This is an inspirational assembly that looks at the issue of what can we do to make a difference.
Some terrific video clips and some really good stories.
This can be done at any time of year, but it will almost certainly result in you getting a standing ovation!
One of my best assemblies. Highly recommended.
This is a fantastic assembly that looks at how we spend our time.
This can be used at any time but may be most effective at the start or at the end of the year when the students have an opportunity to reflect on their own use of time.
It covers:
-Where units of time came from
-Why the calendar doesn’t make sense
-How the calendar could be better
-How people in the UK use their time
-What we can learn from the regrets of people who are dying about their lives
-Inspirational quotes
This is a very popular and thought provoking assembly, and one of my favorites. Highly recommended.
This assembly looks at the problem of Fake News in today’s society and the role it has played in several major world events since 2016, up to the present day (including Brexit, Trump, Wikileaks, Climate change denial etc.)
The assembly covers what fake news is, the history of fake news, where it comes from, how it spreads and why it matters.
It also features a quiz where the students will get the chance to see if they can spot the fake news stories out of ten unlikely sounding stories.
Finally the assembly links fake news to gossip and rumours and gives tips as to how to spot fake news (both online and in the classroom).
This is a fun but comprehensive assembly.
This assembly addresses the gun epidemic in the USA, by looking at:
-The history of guns in the USA
-The causes of the gun problem
-The NRA
-Trump and the Republican party
And causes for optimism for the future.
It was written in the aftermath of the Parkland School Shooting but is just as applicable to any mass shooting in the USA (update in light of the tragic 2022 school shooting at Robb Elementry school).
This is a well presented, well research, topical and very interesting assembly that covers the gun debate in some detail.
This is an fantastic assembly that explores the current Gender Pay Gap in the UK and the reasons why there is still a gap.
The assembly covers:
-Life for women 100 years ago compared to today
-History of the gender pay gap
-Reasons why there is still a gap today
-Gender pay gap around the world
-Case study - Iceland
-What can be done about the gap today
-Video and quotes
This is a powerful and important message that all young people need to hear. This assembly was delivered to year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. It could easily be delivered to KS2 or KS5.
This assembly was observed and rated as outstanding for its content, message, visuals and delivery.
This is a fantastic assembly that I used for an interview about refugee week.
It has been updated for 2023.
It covers the 5 W’s of refugee week, including:
-Definitions of refugee, immigrant, asylum seeker
-The History of refugees
-The reasons why there are so many refugees today
-What the future may look like
-What we can do to help
It also has a fantastic poem that is aimed at making the students think about this as an issue.
A well planned, interesting and important assembly.
The assembly is aimed at sending the students off at the end of the school year thinking about the future.
It focuses on the passing of time and the idea of growth and achievement.
The students are encouraged to reflect on their time in school and their hope for the future.
It finishes by encouraging the audience to think about how to measure success and what it would look like for them.
It is also suitable for the end of calendar year.
The assembly looks at the issue of injustice and how we can respond to it through the case study of Maya Angelou.
It tells the story of Maya Angelou and her life as an inspiration to the students.
If you like this assembly please leave a review.
**This is a fantastic assembly designed to deal with the issue of Gossip or rumours in a school context. **
It was observed by Ofsted and they said it was Outstanding
This assembly looks at:
-The definition of gossip
-Where the term comes from
-Why people gossip
-What surveys show about gossip in the UK today
-What the impact of gossip is
-How it can be avoided
-6 tips to reduced gossip
The assembly can be a straight forward teacher presentation or you can include some audience participation (Q&As, a demonstration of gossip, a quick survey)
There are notes under every slide to help the presenter. The assembly should take 15 to 20 minutes. If you are short on time you could skip the video and the quotes.
I have also included a follow up activity for form tutors following the assembly to consolidate the key message.
All images in this presentation are free to use under a Creative Commons Licence.
Here is a really interesting assembly for 2018 about Halloween.
It cover history, traditions, customs, facts, and how to stay safe.
If is an interactive assembly and asks the audience to participate (in a Q & A and a True or False Quiz).
It also has an amusing section looking at celebrity fancy dress costumes and Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘We ate all your candy’ video.
A fun and interesting assembly.
Highly recommended for assembly or form time.

The assembly introduces the students to Red Nose Day
-What it is
-When it takes place
-Why it started
-Who it is helping
-How the students can help
The assembly can be updated for Sports Relief or for Children in need.
If you like this assembly please leave a review.
This lesson is to help the students to plan their revision by doing a twist on the idea of a post mortem.
While a post mortem is after the event, the pre-mortem does the same thing but before the event (or exam). So instead of thinking about why they failed, they will think about why they might fail and try to put into place a plan to prevent that happening!
A useful and thought provoking lesson.
This lesson looks at the dangers of smoking through a variety of activities.
The lesson includes:
-Powerful anti-smoking ads
-What cigarettes contain
-What tobacco does to your body
-How to avoid getting addicted
The lesson can be extended to two or three lessons by getting the students to make an anti-smoking poster or presentation.
This well resourced and well explained assembly looks at the history of fire works night, how it is celebrated today and why we celebrate it today.
It also looks at the firework code, the dangers of fireworks and how be considerate and how to stay safe.
It also has a true story to bring home the point that fireworks are not toys.
I have included teachers notes to help to explain the slides.
If you like this assembly please leave a review.
UPDATED - 12th March 2020
This fantastic Assembly is designed to inform students about the ongoing Coronavirus crisis that is spreading across the world.
It covers:
-Myths and Facts
-Causes of the virus
-The 5 w’s about the virus
-Effects
-Symptoms
-History of pandemics
-Advice to keep safe
An excellent and well resourced assembly that explains the issue clearly.
NOTE - This was created at the beginning of March 2020, so you may need to update the figures on a couple of the slides to give the most up to date information.
This was a survey I created when completing my NPQSL. I made it from an amalgamation of serveal other surveys I had seen used at other schools. It proved to be a useful and a powerful tool.
I used it to gather information about how we could improve our transition procedures, but it could easily be adapted to find out what the students think of their school.
A fantastic aid to pupils voice in school.
Welcome to the Big Summer Quiz 2019!!! Highly recommended by demanding students!
No one wants to do lessons in the final week so why not download an outstanding quiz to help the lessons to fly by? This quiz comes highly recommended and is well made, well designed and well presented.
It includes six rounds:
1 - Celebrity Face Mash up
2 - In the news 2019
3 - Movie Round
4 - General Knowledge
5 - Celebrity Makeover
6 - Music Round
It also includes three tie breaker/bonus questions.
I have included two versions of the same quiz in case you have an older version of PowerPoint.
There are also two mark sheets.
This is a great quiz and is a big favourite of my students who demand a new quiz at the end of every term!
If you like it, please leave a review so others can find it more easily.
Thanks
